Biography
I have Canadian and European Union Citizenship (Netherlands)
Richard de Klerk was born in Vancouver in 1984. His family moved to Holland, the country where his father grew up, when he was six years old. There he attended the American School of The Hague for three years and was inspired by the productions their Drama department put on every year. Watching British Comedy on television started him on the path to imitating voices and accents. He has also picked up Dutch and speaks Spanish.
Richard landed his first commercial then went on to act in film and television shortly after returning to Vancouver.
He has been a guest star in television shows like Viper, Cold Squad, Stargate SG-1, So Weird, Andromeda and Alienated. He had a role in Bang, Bang, You’re Dead (Jessie) just after finishing the school musical “Grease” where he played Kenicki. He played a lead role in Mr. Rice’s Secret (Simon) with David Bowie where he was required to shave his head to play a young boy dying of cancer. He co-starred in the film Frankie and Hazel (Carmine), a character with a New York accent. Richard has also done voice over work for cartoons including Kleo the Misfit Unicorn and Velveteen Rabbit. To play a challenging character is always enticing and Richard chose to play the lead in Zoo Story for his Drama class. Acting is his passion but he also would like to direct and produce.
Within the last year he has starred in two feature films: Part of the Game (Robert) and Inconsequential Consequences (Mikey), the latter being still in post production. He was also a guest on the 4400.
He loves soccer, played in the Premier League and has shared his talent for the game with others by coaching. He enjoys most sports and loves to travel. Of course watching movies is a constant pass time.
